Qualification Highlights

Most of my working career has been spent in one of 2 fields; radio and hospitality. Though they seem very different, many of the skills I have learned are applicable to both areas. It was through hospitality that I learned how to be patient, organized, and how to reach out to a mass of people in a personal, individualistic way. Through radio I’ve learned how to stay on the cutting edge of how people communicate and constantly renewing my skill-sets. Both jobs have essentially the same goal, and that is; being an efficient communicator. Through the years, I’ve learned important business and organizational skills as well as high pressure decision making, multi-tasking, and cross-department training. I’m the type of person who needs to be challenged daily in my work and would bring a lot of valuable skills to your business.

Professional Experience

STEPHENS MEDIA GROUP
Tulsa, OK – May 2008 – December 2010
Promotions Director

  • Organized and executed concerts, live broadcasts, and contests for 100.9 KXOJ and 100.3 the Kross.
  • Maintained social network sites for both stations including YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook.
  • Oversaw “trade” accounts with businesses wanting to donate products or services for prize giveaway.
  • Developed and maintained current street team consisting of over 450 volunteers.
  • Write articles and create webpages as well as designing graphics for KXOJ.com and theKross.fm.
  • On-air talent for 100.3 the Kross.

Shining moment: In my time at KXOJ I developed and grew a street team from nothing into over 450 members. Executing events was my first priority and I was shocked to find there wasn’t a list of volunteers anywhere. Additionally, for a company whose primary purpose was connecting with the customer (listener) I was shocked there was only a neglected Myspace page in use. I began a Facebook Fan Page and Twitter page and was the primary developer and user of these. I also set guidelines in place for the DJs to use these resources.

KGBI-FM 100.7
Omaha, NE – January 2006-July 2006, Summer 2003
Promotions Assistant/On-Air Talent/Intern

  • Worked closely with Promotions Director/Program Director to create new promotional ideas or create additional ideas to further ongoing promotions.
  • Wrote production copy for ongoing promotions.
  • Worked at concerts doing set-up, gathering listener responses, and meeting listeners.
  • On-air talent for weekends and overnights.

Shining moment: I began at KGBI as an intern but was quickly treated as a regular staff member. Beyond my regular Saturday air-shift I also was given the opportunity to fill in on the afternoon request show, the evening drive, remote broadcasts, and even a festival emcee. I went on to work part time for the station but I still maintain the friendships today.

KMSC-FM 88.3
Sioux City, IA – Sept 2002-Dec 2005
On-Air Talent/Head Announcer/Specialty Shows Director

  • Evaluate on-air presence and technical skills of DJs.
  • Mix concerts for live broadcast and recording.
  • Set up and prepare remote broadcasts.
  • Create imaging and production.
  • Work with record labels to acquire music.
  • Form and follow music logs for station programming.

Shining moment: As a college station, KMSC allowed for specialty programming outside of the regular format during the evenings and for 3 years, I produced and programmed my own Chrisitan music show. I was responsible for selecting and acquiring the music as well as production and promotion.

HOLIDAY INN OMAHA CONVENTION CENTER
Omaha, NE – July 2007-April 2008
Front Office Supervisor

  • Created and enforced employee schedules.
  • Balanced hotel room inventory daily.
  • Participated in 2 bi-weekly event meetings coordinating front desk efforts with sales department needs.
  • Created training procedures and schedules
  • Interviewed and trained new hires.
  • Evening Manager on Duty of all hotel and waterpark issues when no events occurred.
  • Stood in as interim department manager overseeing approximately 27 employees at the front desk, reservations, concierge, and bell service departments.

Shining Moment: One of my greatest accomplishments at this job was raising guest scores to an acceptable level. Having high service scores at my previous job, I was brought over to help increase the customer satisfaction by my former manager. The hotel was undergoing construction which can often be a death sentence on your customer scores. During my time there, I saw overall satisfaction scores rise over 20%. Of course there was whole staff responsible for this, but I was proud to be a part of it.

CROWNE PLAZA HOTEL
Omaha, NE – January 2006-June 2007, Summers; 2002-2003
Front Office Supervisor/Guest Service Representative/Night Audit

  • Acted as Department Manager with 2 superior positions vacant
  • Forecasted hotel occupancy for up to 30 days in advance
  • Budgeted for front desk and gift shop resources and supplies
  • Created and enforced employee schedules
  • Interviewed and hired new employees
  • Ran daily reports and checked for discrepancies in credit card billings

Shining Moment: While a Guest Service Representative, our hotel was sold to new franchisees. There was a series of unfavorable changes which ultimately led to the termination or resignation of numerous management staff. I was immediately promoted to Supervisor, but with only 2 other staff members and no other management between myself and the General Manager, I was left filling the voids and taking on responsibilities far beyond the typical Front Desk position. After 4 weeks of long hours and by far our busiest time of year, our service scores didn’t drop a single point, maintaining a 96% satisfaction.
